The vertebrae in the neck and upper back compose a region called the cervix, which can often become a source of pain or immobility for patients young and old. Whether due to trauma or poor care, the vertebrae in the cervix can become compressed and can lead to a number of unwanted symptoms, including lower back, neck pain, and radiating arm and leg pain. Cervical decompression can also contribute to range of conditions, including herniated or bulging discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, post-surgical patients, facet syndrome, and spinal stenosis.
Cervical decompression therapy involves massages, electrical stimulation, special exercises, and the application of hot and cold packs to reduce swelling and ease inflammation. Just like most routes to healing, one of the most important components of cervical decompression therapy is exercise. We recommend walking as often as possible to help strengthen the muscles in your back, hips and legs.
This group of muscles is extremely important for good posture and support to your spine, and must remain in shape to improve stability and walking. Add at least twenty minutes of walking into your regular daily routine. It is a short interval that will make the difference. Stretching will also be required to help you heal, which serve to build strength and endurance, and increase your overall flexibility.

We combine our decades of expertise we state-of-the-art facilities to provide patients with the latest therapeutic treatments in the field. Put simply, we help the body help itself. Advantages of cervical decompression therapy with our team include:
Increased Strength – Our physical therapy programs help the body muscles grow and function the way they’re supposed to, giving you body increased strength and stability for prolonged pain relief.
Increased Mobility – We help you build increased mobility through specialized stretching and flexibility exercises. This helps prevent injury and also makes exercising much easier.

If the cervical compression is not severe, or if only root nerves are being compressed, your physician may prescribe a soft neck collar. This will provide the added stability and support that your neck needs. Drugs that help with relaxing the muscles and reduce inflamed muscles could be prescribed for your benefit. Your physician may additionally recommend cervical decompression therapy, which stabilizes your spine, uplifts your posture, helps with your muscle tone and removes the added pressure off the compressed discs.
