Physical therapy is an effective treatment for a variety of conditions, including chronic disease, pain, and sports injuries. During your physical therapy session, you and your therapist will work to determine the best way to reduce pain and improve health and mobility. If you are preparing for your first physical therapy appointment at The Houston Spine & Rehabilitation Centers, following these simple tips from our chiropractors in The Woodlands can help you enjoy a more relaxing and productive visit.
Arriving at your physical therapy appointment prepared to work with your therapist will let you get the most from each session. Making a list of your symptoms and anything you’ve noticed about what causes or relives them will provide your physical therapist with the information he needs to more accurately develop a treatment plan. If you are currently taking any medication or supplements, it’s a good idea to list this information as well. Additionally, listing any questions you may have ahead of time will help you remember them so you won’t leave your appointment without all the information you need about your treatment.
Physical therapy involves moving the body in stretches and strength-building exercises to help you improve your health, flexibility, and range of motion. Thus, you should wear comfortable clothing that facilitates motion and comfortable closed-toes athletic shoes and socks. Additionally, it’s best to avoid wearing excessive or loose jewelry, or plan to take it off and store it during your appointment for ease of moment and safety.
At The Houston Spine & Rehabilitation Centers, we offer physical therapy as part of our sports medicine, arthritis treatment, and neck and back pain relief programs.
